21 Powerful Money Affirmations for Financial Success

What are affirmations?

An affirmation is an act of confirming something to be true. It can be a written or verbal statement that confirms what you want to happen.

An example of a generic affirmation: I accept 100% responsibility for my own life.

This is a positive affirmation that reiterates that you are in control of your life. The act of repeating this, either verbally or written, will help you live by it. When it comes to money affirmations they are equally as important because they instill beliefs that will help you achieve financial success. The more you believe your affirmations the more likely you will achieve the things you set out to.

Similarly, the more you ponder on something the more likely you’ll be attracted to its opportunities. This is why manifesting has become so popular on Instagram and Tiktok. Consider this. If you were to repeat “I always smile when I see yellow cars” 20 times each day for a week I can guarantee what will happen.

You will suddenly spot yellow cars more frequently and start smiling.

The same philosophy is applied to affirmations and the law of attraction. However, it’s important to note that without a bias toward the action you’ll always be limited. Without taking the required action necessary you will simply be saying things that don’t have any intention behind them. Effectively wasting your time.

Is there science behind money affirmations?

Some might argue that affirmations are fluff and don’t really do anything. On a surface level, they clearly won’t make millions of dollars appear.

In fact, they don’t actually work the way we expect them to. According to Dr. Steve Rose affirmations don’t necessarily work for anyone trying to improve their mood or escape negative emotions. They tend to work for individuals who are already positive or high functioning.

This means if you’re already a person with high self-esteem, affirmations can compound the results you’re looking to achieve.

The studies further suggest that self-affirmations can restore self-competence and increase activity in key regions of the brain.

In summary, money affirmations won’t make you happy, they won’t make you immediately rich and they definitely won’t solve your deep underlying problems. But they will help you take more action, spot opportunities easily, and attract more money.

So I guess that’s still a huge win, right?

The benefits of money affirmations

Now that we know there is a bit of science behind this we can explore the benefits. Getting started with affirmations mean you already have some intention to do something. Here are some further benefits of money affirmations:

  • Creates motivation to act upon your goals
  • Gives you the confidence to achieve your financial goals
  • Subconsciously influences your thoughts in a positive way
  • Changes your negative thought patterns into positive ones

How to create your own money affirmations

The hardest part about creating affirmations is knowing what you want to achieve through them.

The process is much more obvious once you have some clear goals. Money affirmations require specificity, positivity, and honest belief in them.

Find some space to think about your future goals. If you’re reading this article there’s a big chance you have an idea of what you’re seeking. Maybe it’s a new job, a pay rise, or success in business a venture. Whatever it might be make sure you’re clear on it.

1. Get clear on what you want

The first step to creating money affirmations is knowing what you want to achieve. Write a list of the things you want to come true in the short, medium, and long term. Some examples of this might include:

  • Increase my savings rate by 20%
  • A 10% pay rise by the end of the year
  • Receive three offers for better jobs in my area
  • Start investing my money each month into ETFs and Crypto

It’s best to have SMART goals. This means they’re specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based. Avoid goals that aren’t in your control.

2. Make a positive list of affirmations

Make a list of all the positive and negative thoughts you have about each goal you want to come true. You might be really nervous about interviewing for jobs or scared of investing your money. Make sure you write all your honest thoughts about each goal. Review your list and change all the negative thoughts to the complete opposite. For example:

  • Negative: When I interview I get nervous I will screw it up
  • Positive: I am confident in interviews and always receive positive feedback

3. Make sure all the affirmations are in the present tense

This is a key step in creating affirmations. It’s important all of your affirmations are in the present tense. Affirmations for the future are less effective. It’s equally as important to start your affirmations with “I” or “My”. Here are three great money affirmations:

  • I am a great interviewee
  • I receive more job offers than I need
  • I am worthy of a pay rise this year and I will achieve it

4. Remove all the statements you don’t truly believe

For your money affirmations to truly work you need to believe in them. If your goals included getting a pay rise or saving 10% more of your money it wouldn’t help to have completely separate and irrelevant affirmations.

If your affirmations include things like “My net worth is a billion dollars” but you’ve never started a business and your circle of friends is unemployed then you’re setting yourself up for failure.

Affirmations aren’t miracles, they’re a set of statements you reiterate to yourself to boost confidence, help you take action, and spot unique opportunities. The worst thing to do is create affirmations that are so far-fetched you crush your self-esteem.

So make sure they’re believable, if not, remove them.
